Three decades. One maker.

The work has changed little since Tinus first appeared in the sporting press: selected timber, hand-stitched leather, brass fittings specially made for him and one creation built around one firearm.

Custom Gun Cases

By Gregor Woods

An early feature on the workshop, written when Tinus was already making all three of the classic styles: oak and leather, all leather, and canvas and leather.

The article describes the hand stitching throughout, the brass corners and fittings, the baize-lined interiors cut to the gun, and the accessories that go inside the case - cartridge magazines, snap caps, oil bottles and maker's labels set into the lid.

Bespoke oak and leather cases

Thirty years on, the same craft in the same hands. This piece looks at the American white oak cases cut so the grain and colour run unbroken from side to lid.

It covers the fitting of each case to its gun, the accessories made to go with it, and the patience the work demands - four to five months from deposit to handover.
